My maternal Great Grandmother was Margaret Rebecca Jowers Demby.  One of the most fascinating stories in my family was the murder of her brother, my Great-Great Uncle James Franklin Jowers who was a Baptist minister and grocery store owner in Minden Louisiana. 

      My Great-Great Grandfather William James Douglas Jowers moved with his family to Minden, Lousiana in December 1887 and that's how parts of this branch of Jowers Chesterfield SC ancestors ended up in the Bayou.  Three weeks after they moved there my Great-Great-Great-Grandmother Ellen Jane Sowell Jowers died.  She was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Minden, Louisiana.  William James Douglas Jowers went on to marry three more times.  Eventually I'll have much info on this site about this scary yet fascinating episode in my family's history.  For now--listen to the story of W.J.D and Ellen's son Frank(My Great Uncle) on this True Crime podcast from historian Richard Jones.  Grab a cup of coffee and a comfy chair, it's a riveting one hour 17 minute roller coaster ride into my family.  Here's some info from Richard's podcast:
