Immigrant Ancestor:  Randal Johnson
Born abt. 1740 at Isle of Skye Scotland
Died:  Kershaw District near York South Carolina.  This area was eventually divided into York(1785) and Chesterfield(1800) Counties, South Carolina.  In the 1700s,  The Camden District covered the area now divided into York, Chesterfield and Kershaw Counties.  It was a vast district before smaller counties were divided and named in the early  1800s.  Chesterfield County was not officially formed until 1800(from the Kershaw District) Kershaw County was formed in 1791 from the Camden District.  York County was formed in 1785.  The Johnson family made their home in the York District, probably in the area near Lancaster, SC until Randal's grandson Thomas Johnson moved to the area near Patrick, South Carolina(Sugarloaf Mtn area) There is an unmarked Johnson family cemetery off the Ruby Rd near Sugarloaf Mtn. and this is where Randal's Grandson Thomas Johnson and his wife Cintha Jones Johnson are buried.
Date of Randal Johnson's immigration to America:  Mid 1700s
Original Country-Isle of Skye Scotland
Original Landing-in North Carolina
To the best I can ascertain Randal Johnson came to America with some of the Munn family and they intially landed in North Carolina in Tyrrell County and eventually made their way to York South Carolina which in the 1700s was still the Camden District(now, York, Kershaw & Chesterfield Counties, South Carolina) Many descendants of Randal Johnson still live in Chesterfield County, South Carolina today(2019)
Randal had a son Thomas born abt 1773 in York, SC.(  Thomas also had a son named Thomas Johnson who appeared on the Chesterfield County census in 1800.
Thomas Johnson Jr was my 3rd Great Grandfather, his son James Ryley Johnson was my 2nd Great Grandfather.  I am slowly gathering and adding more info on the Chesterfield County SC Johnson family.  There were a LOT of descendants of Randal Johnson in Chesterfield and sorting the different families is an arduous process as their were several other Scottish and English Johnson families that came to Chesterfield District in the 1700s.
