My Cunningham Ancestors are Paternal through my Father's line----

My Great-Great-Great Grandmother was Darcus Cunningham Jacobs--She was born in 1808 in Haywood County, North Carolina.  Technically she would have been born in Buncombe County, because Haywood County wasn't formed until December 15, 1808 from Buncombe.  Buncombe County was created 5 December 1791 from Burke and Rutherford Counties.  Burke County was created 8 April 1777 from Rowan County.  In the 1700s when Darcus' Grandfather George Cunningham was living in North Carolina, Rowan County covered the entire western half of the state.  Darcus Cunningham died in 1888 in Franklin, NC and is buried at the Iotla Methodist Church Cemetery in the Iotla community near Franklin, NC.  Darcus married Burgess Gathier Jacobs, who was born in Iredell County, NC in 1815.  They had 15 children together.  Their 11th child Amanda Selena Jacobs born October 10, 1853 was my Great-Great Grandmother.

Darcus Cunningham Jacobs parents were John Cunningham and wife Elizabeth Hannah Davis.  John was born about 1775 in York District South Carolina. He died in 1847 in Macon County, North Carolina.
